CTC
listed among top10 military educators
Central
Texas College (CTC) was recently listed among the top 10
schools that are significant players in military education
according to KMI Media and Military Advanced Education
magazine. The magazine recently conducted its first
ever review of top colleges and universities for military
service members.
More
than 100 colleges and universities were selected from applications
submitted to the Military Advanced Education website
and then rated by an independent panel of judges from the
two media entities. The schools were evaluated on the number
of military contracts, number of military students served,
availability of financial aid and scholarships and other
“military-friendly” qualities.
With
the main campus in Killeen and 100-plus locations around
the world, CTC serves more than 50,000 students on military
installations, in embassies and on ships at sea in addition
to serving thousands of students via distance education.
CTC
locations include 23 military installations in the continental
United States, Alaska and Hawaii. The CTC European Campus
has operations in nearly 20 countries with more than 45
percent of enrollments from deployed military personnel.
CTC's
Pacific Far East Campus has regional offices in Korea ,
mainland Japan and Okinawa and more than 30 sites providing
education opportunities for the military. In addition, the
school's Navy College Program Afloat College Education program,
offered through CTC's Navy Campus, creates educational activities
on board Navy ships throughout the world.
CTC
was one of the first colleges to pledge support for the
Army's centralized tuition management program, GoArmyEd.
The program is a one-stop shop allowing active duty soldiers
to manage their college education using tuition assistance
benefits. Soldiers can request Army tuition assistance online,
anytime, for classroom distance learning and eArmyU online
college courses.
Under
contract from the Department of Defense, CTC conducts military
training in Europe on Fort Hood and Fort Bragg . Instructors
teach courses on varied types of vehicle maintenance, small
arms operations, leadership, computer skills and other military
skills enhancement programs.
Locally,
CTC established dedicated classroom facilities at Fort Hood
in 1989. And in 2001, the new CTC Fort Hood Administration
Building was dedicated on Fort Hood , thus becoming the
first college-owned building on a military installation.
Other
colleges and universities cited by KMI and Military Advanced
Education as top military educators are American Military
University, Coastline Community College, Colorado Technical
University, Excelsior College, Saint Leo University, Thomas
Edison State College, University of Maryland-University
College, the University of Oklahoma and Webster University.
